This Week’s Devotional (Mon–Fri)
National Community Church | May 03, 2026
Sermon Title Signs & Wonders
Speaker Dr. Mark Batterson
Primary Passage Acts 3
DAY 1
Our Normal Is So Subnormal
Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…”
Meditation: The sermon begins by taking us down into the catacombs, where the early church worshiped at great cost, and asking whether we have settled for a modernized, Americanized, westernized Christianity. If the book of Acts shows us the purest form of Christianity, then maybe “our normal is so subnormal that normal seems abnormal.”
But this is not meant to shame us; it is meant to awaken holy hunger. The same God who filled the upper room still fills His people today, and the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead still dwells in us.
💭 Where have I quietly settled for a safer, smaller version of Christian faith than what I see in Acts?
🙏 Holy Spirit, awaken holy hunger in me again. Help me not settle for less than the life and power You promise in Jesus. Amen.
✅ Optional Practice: Read Acts 1–2 and ask God to renew your expectation for His Spirit’s work.

DAY 5
In the Name of Jesus
Acts 3:16
“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong.”
Meditation: The sermon closes by reminding us that God does not only heal broken bodies; He heals broken minds, broken hearts, broken memories, and broken relationships. The man who had always been outside the temple was brought inside to worship, because Jesus does not merely give a handout — He gives a hand up.
Now we are invited to become conduits of His healing power. We are not responsible for the outcome, but we can obey the prompting, pray with faith, and trust the five most powerful words in any language: “in the name of Jesus.”
💭 Where might the Holy Spirit be prompting me to slow down, see someone, and pray?
🙏 Jesus, make me a conduit of Your healing love. Help me obey Your promptings and trust Your name more than my fear. Amen.
✅ Optional Practice: Pray a simple blessing over someone this week in the name of Jesus.
This is how your congregation could walk with Sunday throughout the week.
